SEC Power Poll Ballot: Week Twelve

Kevin C. Cox

Here are my rankings for this week. Any disagreement, just let me know.

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

The Tide notched an impressive statement win over LSU. It appears to be Alabama and everyone else in the SEC right now.

2. Auburn Tigers

If anyone has a chance to beat Alabama, it may turn out to be their bitter rivals Auburn, although the Tigers will have to do more through the air than they've been doing to win that game. In any event, Gus Malzahn deserves a lot of credit for the masterful turnaround job he's done this year.

3. Missouri Tigers

Kentucky posed no trouble for Mizzou as it primes itself for its late-season gauntlet.

4. South Carolina Gamecocks

The Gamecocks took the week off in preparation for a key game against Florida this weekend.

5. Texas A&M Aggies

The defense continues to struggle, but you can't fault the Aggies for not being entertaining.

6. Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels had a surprisingly difficult game against Arkansas but managed to close out the win.

7. LSU Tigers

After they lost to Ole Miss and weren't competitive in the second half against 'Bama, it's become more and more clear that this team simply didn't have what it took to live up to lofty preseason expectations. Tigers fans are surely bemoaning the fact that they couldn't have a great offense and defense in the same year now that they finally have a good offense but their defense has regressed.

8. Vanderbilt Commodores

Vandy's opportunistic defense forced several costly turnovers against Florida that allowed the 'Dores to coast to an easy win in a game in which they were significantly outgained. Regardless of how they've done it, Vandy has shown some resilience in putting together another solid season after a slow start.

9. Georgia Bulldogs

UGA got a tuneup against App. St. before this weekend's consequential game against Auburn.

10. Florida Gators

After losing to Vandy, UF is staring down its first losing season in many years. Ron Zook is laughing somewhere as the Gators' brass discuss whether to retain Will Muschamp or not. Zook's final team made the Peach Bowl.

11. Tennessee Volunteers

After a promising win over South Carolina, the Vols' season has ground to a screeching halt with several blowout losses.

12. Mississippi St. Bulldogs

The Bulldogs made things interesting against TAMU, but they fell short of what could have been a season-saving win.

13. Arkansas Razorbacks

Arkansas put up a decent fight against Ole Miss, but the Hogs' rough season rolled on with another loss.

14. Kentucky Wildcats

Another week, another loss for Kentucky.
