"The correct spelling is B-U-S-T-A. Not E-R. I appreciate it." — Rory "Busta" Anderson
Rory "Busta" Anderson
Junior Tight End
6'5", 242 lbs.
Powder Springs, GA
Recruitment:
3 stars, 29th overall tight end in 2011 class
Other offers: Illinois, Louisville, Ole Miss, Mississippi St., Tennessee, etc.
College Career:
Busta's had a fruitful run so far having seen action in every game since he's been here. Early on, Anderson earned a reputation for scoring touchdowns, as eight of his 22 total receptions have gone to the house. Although it didn't result in a touchdown, his best highlight in my mind remains this 55 yard reception against Clemson in 2011:

2012 Stats:
13 games played, 14 receptions, 271 yards, 19.36 YPC, 5 TDs
2013 Outlook:
2013 should be a big year for Busta. South Carolina's come to productively rely on a pair of tight ends as a part of its zone read look. In 2012, tight ends accounted for 18% of completions, 22% of receiving yards, and just over 20% of touchdown receptions. And with the departure of four of the team's top five reception leaders (Ace, Justice, Kenny, and Latty), Busta enters the year as one of the team's most seasoned and proven targets. A big enough year could vault Busta into the 2014 draft—good thing we're hoarding tight ends.
Trivia:
Is pursuing a degree in retailing, so if the whole "pursuing a career in the NFL" thing falls through, he could always open up a GAP franchise.
Social media scouting report:
Tweets are protected, which is a refreshing display of restraint in an era when athletes posture for attention on Twitter.
Possible Todd Ellis play-by-play call:
Connor Shaw takes the snap, has time. He unleashes, and finds Busta Anderson down the seam! One man to beat—OOOOH, he dekes him out of his socks, and Anderson will find paydirt! TOUCHDOWN, GAMECOCKS. Take it from number 81, folks: don't just stand there, BUSTA move!
