The Final Cockdown: #18 Cedrick Cooper

A redshirt sophomore linebacker who is still one of the most experienced members of the corps, Cooper is squarely in the mix at Will linebacker.

Jeremy Brevard-US PRESSWIRE

Cedrick Cooper
Redshirt Sophomore Linebacker
6'2", 213 lbs.
Lithonia, GA

Recruitment:
3 stars, #25 ILB in the 2011 class
Other offers: Arkansas, Clemson, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee

College Career:
After redshirting in 2011, Cooper played in 11 games in 2012, mostly in a special teams capacity. Cooper then tore his ACL in bowl practices, which sidelined him for the remainder of the season and the spring. His recovery was swift, and he participated in summer workouts.

2013 Outlook:
Cooper's competing for the starting role at Will linebacker, but a dislocated elbow sustained early in fall practice currently has him sidelined. He's competing with Skai Moore and Marcquis Roberts for the starting position, but linebackers coach Kirk Botkin recently mentioned that Roberts would, as of Saturday's scrimmage, be considered the starter. Botkin also said that Cooper would be out another week, so look to see Cedrick back in action at the beginning of next week.

Trivia:
EMMINENTLY LIKABLE. Seriously, watch this interview and tell me you don't love this kid:

Possible Todd Ellis play-by-play call:
"Franklin takes the snap, looking for a man, and BOOM! Cedrick Cooper was blitzing, and when in untouched to take him down for the sack! My oh my! Folks, a word of advice for those of you quarterbacking against this defense, don't get too comfy in that pocket or you'll find yourself Hangin' with Mr. Cooper!"
