The Final Cockdown: #8 Shamier Jeffery

Buried on the depth chart and all but written off as a bust, the younger brother of Alshon (pictured) found his focus and spent the offseason fighting his way up the depth chart.

Shamier Jeffery
Redshirt Sophomore
6'1", 207 lbs.
St. Matthews, SC

Recruitment:
3 stars, #24 athlete in the 2011 class
Other offers: Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia

College Career:
Shamier redshirted in 2011, and appeared in three games last season without logging a statistic.

2013 Outlook:
It was reported that the young Jeffery lacked drive and was coasting for much of his first two years on campus. But something clicked in the spring, and Shamier dropped a chunk of weight and began earning the praise of his coaches. He's since worked his way into the mix at receiver, and is likely to operate out of the X position. As mentioned in Jody Fuller's Cockdown, this is a receiving corps defined more by its potential than its experience, so Jeffery will have his opportunities to make an impact this fall.

Trivia:
His brother is Alshon. Yeah that's the trivia you're getting. Deal with it.

Possible Todd Ellis play-by-play call:
"Dylan Thompson will take over on third and long. Calls for the snap, drops back, unloads over the middle, CAUGHT! That's Shamier Jeffery, and he breaks upfield, sheds a tackler and turns on the afterburners! He won't be caught—touchdown, Gamecocks! Folks, with that kind of speed, I suggest Jeffery team up with fellow speedster, baseballer Tanner English, to form a hands-on crimefighting tandem called 'The English-Shamier League'!"
