Kaiwan Lewis
Sophomore Linebacker
6'0", 221 lbs.
Mays Landing, NJ

Recruitment:
4-stars, #12 ILB in 2012 class
Other offers: Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Cal, Florida, Florida State, Michigan State, among many others

College Career:
Appeared in a special teams capacity in 11 games as a true freshman.

2012 Stats:
3 tackles

2013 Outlook:
Kaiwan is set to step into the role of starting Mike linebacker, taking over for 2012's leading tackler Shaq WIlson. The good news is that Wilson transitioned into a graduate assistant role, and should prove a valuable resource for Lewis. The sophomore will be charged with leading a group no more experienced than he. Let's hope Lewis is up to the task—ask former Post and Courier beat writer and long form question poet Daryl Slater, and he'll tell you (eventually) that young Kaiwan will be among the most important players on this 2013 squad. Early reports have been positive, and Lewis earned Most Improved Linebacker accolades this spring.

Trivia:
Played high school ball in Hammonton, NJ, home to Ricca's Italian Bakery, which, in 2011, set a Guinness World Record for—wait for it—LONGEST LINE OF CAKES. YEEEEAH-HEH-HEH, SUCK ON IT PLACE THAT FORMERLY HELD THE RECORD FOR LONGEST LINE OF CAKES. CAKELINE AINT LOOKIN SO LONG NOW HUH

Possible Todd Ellis play-by-play call:
"Aaron Murray takes the snap, looking, pressure coming, has to dump it off, and BOOM! Todd Gurley is decked by Kaiwan Lewis, and the pass falls incomplete! Lewis defended that one perfectly. Great play, and it'll bring up third down! Say, Tommy, did you know Lewis played high school football in Hammonton, New Jersey, which is home to the bakery that holds the record for longest line of cakes? You did? How? I've brought it up after any mention of Lewis this season? Well, what can I say, it's worth repeating! Longest line of cakes. Ha! Anyway, here we go, third down."
