What's Cooking at GABA?: Crab-Filled Crescent Wontons

Want a simple-but-delicious finger-food dish for the tailgate or the house party? Here's a good idea: Crab-filled crescent wantons. As blogger Krista says, these are easy to make. Just throw the crab mixture together in a bowl, unroll the tube of crescent dough and make 24 little squares, evenly distribute dollops of crab mixture on each square, roll the wontons, and brush a little egg white on each wonton. Krista's blog provides clear picture illustrations of each step. Put the rolls in the oven to bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes and take them out when golden brown. A sweet-and-sour sauce would be a nice complement for these things. Very easy to put together for something you and your friends can munch on while talking football.

For a beer pairing, you can either go with something sweeter that will complement this crispy, mildly sweet dish, or a hoppier beer that will more so contrast with it. One thing that I'd like to try with this dish would be a sour beer. I've been into trying sour lambics and so forth lately and would imagine that those flavors would play interestingly with this dish.
