In a rivalry match shown on ESPN3 yesterday evening from Riggs Field in Clemson, SC, the South Carolina Gamecocks men's soccer team fell 2-1 to the Tigers. Clemson needed a full overtime and part of another to fend off the Gamecocks. The Tigers' "golden goal" was scored in the 102nd minute by freshman Thales Moreno. South Carolina's lone score of the game was netted by Mahamoudou Kaba (D, Jr.) and assisted by Ryan Arambula (M, So.). The loss drops Carolina to 1-1 on the young season. The Gamecocks defeated ETSU 1-0 Friday night at Stone Stadium. The team faces High Point at home this Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
Carolina's women's squad played a double overtime contest at Boston University this past Friday night and came away with a 0-0 draw. On Sunday, the team faced Northeastern University in Brookline, MA and earned a 3-0 victory. The Gamecock women are now 3-0-1, with a game at Clemson looming on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m.
