D.J. Smith reportedly eliminates Clemson from his final group

Citing a desire to play in the Southeastern Conference, four-star cornerback D.J. Smith has eliminated Clemson from his final group that previously included the Tigers, South Carolina, and Tennessee, according to reports. Clemson, despite Dabo Swinney's protestations to the contrary, is not one of the SEC's 14 member schools.

Smith is set to announce his commitment on Jan. 13 and the Gamecocks are heavy favorites to land the 6'0, 191 defensive back from Marieta (Ga.) Walton.
