The SEC West has taken center stage the past couple of weeks, but this week, it'll be the Big 12 and Pac-12 in the limelight.
In the Big 12, the two big games are Kansas State at Oklahoma and Oklahoma St. at TCU.The KSU-OU game is the one that grabs my eye here. Once thought to be a national title contender, Oklahoma has looked very pedestrian in a loss to TCU and a close win over a weak Texas team. K-State, on the other hand, is playing well, and I look for them to win that game. Baylor at West Virginia could also be interesting. Baylor is obviously favored but has to go on the road against an improving West Virginia team after coming off an emotional come-from-behind win over TCU.
In the Pac-12, Washington vs. Oregon and Stanford vs. Arizona State look like appealing games.
The game of the week will be Notre Dame at Florida State. Neither of these teams deserve their ranking, but this is a very consequential game in that Florida State is unlikely to be challenged again this year and will waltz into the playoffs if they win. An Irish win might make it hard for the 'Noles to make it into playoffs given the lack of opportunities for FSU to gain quality wins for the rest of the season. The Irish still have Arizona St. and Southern Cal to contend with if they beat the 'Noles.
One other game Gamecocks fans might want to watch is Clemson-Boston College. With Deshaun Watson injured, the Tigers were ineffective on offense last week in a game they should have lost to Louisville. I have no illusions about BC's offense having a lot of success against a Clemson defense that is playing very well right now, but this has the potential to be an ugly game, and you have to give BC a chance if that's what comes to pass.
