SEC Power Poll Ballot: Week Eight

How does the SEC stack up after eight weeks of play?

Michael Chang

1. Mississippi St. Bulldogs

The Bulldogs celebrated their first week of being ranked best in the land with a week off.

2. Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels offense didn't light up Tennessee, but it didn't have to given how dominant its defense was. Mistake-free ball is all the Rebels need out of the offense most games.

3. Auburn Tigers

The loss to MSU still stings, but wins over Kansas State and LSU give Auburn a strong resume.

4. Alabama Crimson Tide

The Tide got back on track with a dominant win over Texas A&M.

5. Georgia Bulldogs

Arkansas over UGA was the week's trendy upset pick, but Nick Chubb had other ideas. The frosh tailback ran for over 200 yards in the Dawgs win.

6. LSU Tigers

The Tigers were left for dead after an embarrassing blowout loss to Auburn two weeks ago, but after wins over Florida and Kentucky, LSU's season is trending positive again.

7. Texas A&M Aggies

Once considered a trendy playoff pick, Texas A&M's season is on the brink after a 59-0 loss to Alabama.

8. Arkansas Razorbacks

After being dominated by UGA, the Hogs apparently aren't as close to breaking through as many thought they were after their close loss to Alabama.

9. Missouri Tigers

Left for dead after a blowout loss to UGA, Mizzou bounced back with a big win over Florida, mostly engineered through ST scores and taking advantage of Florida's offensive ineptitude. They need help, but Mizzou isn't out of the SEC East race.

10. Kentucky Wildcats

It's clear the 'Cats still have a long way to go after their blowout loss to LSU.

11. South Carolina Gamecocks

Carolina won but didn't look great doing it against lowly Furman.

12. Florida Gators

Yikes.

13. Tennessee Volunteers

How did this team lose to Florida?

14. Vanderbilt Commodores

Took the week off before traveling to Mizzou this weekend.
