After another weekend sweep, the 15-0 Gamecocks will face Furman in Columbia on Tuesday night. The Gamecocks are 109-54-2 against Furman all-time.
The Furman Paladins are a member of the Southern Conference and today's game is the first of two meetings between the teams this season. The Paladins are off to a 6-9 start on the year. They are hitting .284 as a team with an on-base percentage of .351. Their team ERA is 5.20 and opponents are hitting .281 against them.
The South Carolina offense is now hitting .320 and has an on-base percentage of .409. The Gamecocks continue to pitch at a very high level, recording three more shutouts in the weekend sweep of Brown. The Gamecocks have shut out their opponent in over half of their games this season, with eight shutouts so far. The team is now only six shutouts short of tying the school record for shutouts in a season, which was set in 1975. Freshman right-handed pitcher Taylor Widener will be getting his first career start for the Gamecocks.
