No. 1 South Carolina vs. The Citadel: Matchup between the Gamecocks and Bulldogs postponed until April 16

Inclement weather has caused South Carolina's Tuesday night game against The Citadel to be pushed back until next month.

UPDATE:

South Carolina will return to action on Tuesday night against the The Citadel after pulling out a thrilling series win over the weekend. The Gamecocks lead the all-time series against the Bulldogs 125-47-1.

The Citadel is 8-12 this season after getting swept their opening weekend of Southern Conference play against Davidson. The Bulldogs have a couple of nice wins, but have lost to some rather unimpressive teams. As a team, The Citadel is hitting .276 and has an on-base percentage of .358. The Bulldog pitching staff has an ERA of 5.78 and opponents are hitting .286 against them.

Despite the fact that the Gamecocks are no longer perfect on the season, they emerged from a very tough series with an 18-1 record and an important series win.  They are now hitting .315 with an on-base percentage of .396.  The pitching staff has an ERA of 1.36 and opponents are hitting .206 against them.  The Gamecock bullpen currently has a ridiculously impressive streak of 61.1 innings without allowing a run. The last run given up by the pen was on Opening Day.

Junior right-handed pitcher Evan Beal will start for the Gamecocks Tuesday night. It will be Beal's first appearance of the year; he was out with a back injury for the first part of the season. He will start opposite the Citadel's Austin Mason, a sophomore right-hander. Mason has a 6.75 ERA through 6.2 innings pitched this season.

Start time: 7:00 p.m.

Location:  Charleston, S.C. (Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park)

The game will be available on the radio at 107.5 The Game.
