Three scholarship football players have announced their decision to transfer from South Carolina. Kyle Fleetwood, Mohamed Camara, and Bryce King were each buried on the depth chart at their respective positions and will now attempt to further their football careers elsewhere.
Fleetwood, a redshirt sophomore, was listed fourth on the depth chart at the hybrid linebacker/safety SPUR position. Fleetwood was a three-star prospect and the No. 37 safety in the 2012 class. The player listed fifth on the SPUR depth chart was Mohamed Carmara. He, too, will be transferring after redshirting during his first year on campus in 2013. Camara signed with the Gamecocks as a three-star prospect and the No. 80 outside linebacker in the 2013 class.
King's decision to transfer was a bit more surprising. Not much was heard from the three-star center prospect in 2013, but then again one does not expect to hear much from an offensive lineman during his first year on campus.
South Carolina still needs to find a way to lighten its scholarship load by three players. Sidney Rhodes and Connor McLauirin are walk-ons who were given scholarships last year, but those might not be renewed now that scholarships are a bit more scarce. There's also a decent chance that one or more incoming freshman will be non-qualifiers.
