Previews: South Carolina, Campbell

Game 6: #2 Maryland vs. Winner of Game 5

The Terrapins upset the Gamecocks last night and are now one win away from winning the Columbia regional.

Start time: 7 p.m.

TV/Online: ESPN3

Stakes: Maryland advances to Super Regionals with a win. A Maryland loss forces a Monday night game to determine the champion of the Columbia Regional.

Preview: Maryland

If you're trying to understand Carolina's chances, they were obvoiusly severely dented by the loss last night. But the Gamecocks remain in decent shape, and computer ratings generally agree they could certainly reel off three straight victories. Massey Ratings give the Gamecocks a 79% chance to beat Campbell this afternoon and 72% odds in each match-up with the Terrapins (of course, they don't factor in things like match-ups, starting pitchers, etc.). Still, add that all up, and it leaves the Gamecocks with 40% odds to get to the Super Regionals. Campbell (who would have a 42% chance of beating Maryland) is a long shot at 4%, and Maryland is the most likely to advance at 56%.
