Skai Moore
sophomore linebacker
6'2'' / 213 lbs
Cooper City, FL
Recruitment:
Skai Moore was a consensus three-star prospect and the 23rd-ranked outside linebacker in the nation. He was committed to Rutgers at one point in the recruitment process and also considered Arkansas, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Vanderbilt among his many other offers.
He was not recruited by Florida, Florida St., or Miami. SB Nation recruiting analyst Bud Elliott was high on Moore and predicted the Florida schools would rue not pursuing him.
College career:
Moore was widely considered a sleeper pickup by the Gamecocks and quickly proved the wisdom of that projection. As a freshman, he played right away and had earned the starting spot at Will linebacker over the more experienced Marcquis Roberts by the end of the season. In fact, he led the Gamecocks in tackles with 56 and in interceptions with four. He was recognized as a freshman standout in many postseason roundups.
2014 outlook:
Moore is the probable starter at Will and is widely considered a likely All-SEC-caliber performer.
Trivia:
Moore admits he was a Miami fan growing up in South Florida and would be playing for the 'Canes if they had pursued him. Their loss.
