South Carolina hopes to land a 6'9", 215 pound post presence to its 2015 recruiting class on Friday night, as top-100 recruit Chris Silva of Roselle, New Jersey decides on his college destination between Seton Hall and South Carolina.
Silva would fill a major need for the Gamecocks, as they currently only have four post players on the roster - Laimonas Chatkevicius, Mindaugas Kacinas, Demetrius Henry, and Michael Carrera - with no additional players in the 2014 recruiting class thanks to the non-enrollment of James Thompson due to an arrest for battery. A team that will spend the 2014-15 season undermanned in the post would be in even more dire straights without bringing in some post players in this recruiting class.
Silva represents a player with tremendous upside, and would add another top 100 recruit to the Gamecocks' talent stockpile, joining Sindarius Thornwell, Tyrone Johnson, and Demetrius Henry on the 2015-16 squad.
Update: The Gamecocks may be the favorites -
As of last night, was told Chris Silva was leaning toward South Carolina over Seton Hall today. NJ forward announces today. #shbb
