Columbia Cup Check

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

John Del Bianco: Elliott: Play callers have 'camaraderie'.  Sure, its perfectly normal on many staffs. But it's not what Spurrier said to expect this year - and its a pledge he's broken over and over.

David Caraveillo: On the Beat: Gamecocks’ Williams trying to turn his season around. I expected Williams to be further along in his development, and I'm openly wondering about his position coaching. It is absolutely essential for '16 that Williams step up in '15 - Wilds and Carson are gone after this year.

Willie T. Smith III: Gamecock plan unchanged for Mizzou without Mauk. I think what is meant here is that Skai Moore and T.J. Holloman will continue to play SAM WILL and MIKE respectively, not that Hoke/Ward plan to run the same blitzes and coverages.

The Big Spur: Or maybe not - on the teleconference, despite the fact Mauk and Lock have different styles. the HBC says the Mauk suspension is not changing our preparation. Of course you'd expect him to say that!

David Cloninger: Heck - who knows how they plan to go after the true freshman Mizzou QB - USC will look to keep Drew Lock off balance.

SportstalkSC: Phil Kornblut has some new USC recruiting notes. Hoops Coach Frank Martin is also trying to land 6-10 C Dewan Huell from Coral Gables. Maybe we can ask Coach Frank to check up on some of our South Florida football recruiting since we demoted Grady Brown to "quality control coordinator" to make room for John Hoke and lost our best football recruiter in the Sunshine State.

Gamecock Fanatics: Featheredcock reposts Gamecocks Continue Preparations for Mizzou videos with coaches & players.

Bleacher Report: Is Missouri Doomed vs. South Carolina Without QB Maty Mauk? In-depth piece worth a look at BR.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Columnist Ben Frederickson thinks Suspension is Mauk's worst turnover. The two-time defending SEC East champions have had a lot of turmoil roiling below the surface.

Columbia Missourian: With or without Kentrell Brothers, Missouri's linebackers are ready.

Bill C.: With Drew Lock at QB against South Carolina, line play and drive finishing will mean the world.

SECCountry: Vegas waffling on South Carolina-Missouri following Maty Mauk suspension.

NBC SportsSteve Spurrier: Snyder wouldn’t let me pick the quarterback. Dan Synder hands down has to be the worst major franchise owner in American sports.

Spurs & Feathers: Frank Martin thankful to be a Gamecock (from Tuesday).
