The State: Just how important is it for South Carolina Athletic Director Ray Tanner to get it right on hiring the next head football coach? The answer is very. This will be Tanner's first big test in his three years as AD and although he hasn't done anything to make us think he can't handle it, he hasn't done something to prove he can. While his two predecessors each left different marks on the university, it will be interesting to see the direction Tanner takes this in.
The Big Spur: In 247 sports re-ranking of their Top 247 three South Carolina players make the list. Not surprisingly, Pharoh Cooper stayed in the ranking, although he did fall from No. 67 to 122. The other Gamecocks to make the list were linebacker Skai Moore coming in at No. 230 and tight end Jerell Adams who earned the final spot of 247.
ESPN: The Worldwide Leader doesn't seem to be very hopeful of South Carolina making a bowl game as they project USC and Vanderbilt as the only two SEC teams to be left out of the postseason. I'm having a hard time disagreeing with them as the Gamecocks would need to win three more games just to be bowl-eligible. With the remaining schedule that looks like an uphill climb. Plus, we might not make a bowl game but at least we aren't last in the conference power rankings.
