According to reports, Kurt Roper, former Duke and Florida offensive coordinator, will be hired as the offensive coordinator at South Carolina under new head football coach Will Muschamp.
Roper, who for the past year has been a senior offensive assistant for the Cleveland Browns, is back in the SEC. He served as Duke's offensive coordinator under David Cutcliffe from 2008-2013, but then accepted the offensive coordinator position in 2014 at Florida under then head coach Will Muschamp. In his lone season at Florida, Roper improved the Gators from 18.8 points per game to 30.3 while installing a more spread offense.
Will Muschamp has been rumored to want to establish a no-huddle-hurry-up offense at South Carolina. Kurt Roper's offense at Duke ran a similar system and tried to incorporate it at Florida before ultimately being forced out due to the termination of Will Muschamp.
It will be interesting to see how the hire of Roper will affect class of 2016 four star quarterback Brandon McIlwain of Newtown, PA who has publicly expressed his important relationship with quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus. Whether Mangus is retained or not by the new staff has yet to be determined.
