South Carolina had no trouble with LSU this evening in Columbia, winning 86-62. Although the Tigers kept things somewhat close early on, USC broke through late in the first half to take a 48-20 lead into the locker room. The Gamecocks didn't play as well in the second half, but with the game already decided, they were still able to coast to victory. A'ja Wilson led the Gamecocks in scoring with 26. She also hit a three on her first attempt of the season.
While LSU isn't a formidable opponent, it was good to see Carolina come out and put an opponent away early after the loss to UConn. There's always a concern that a team might let a loss like that affect it into the following game. Dawn Staley and her team didn't let that happen. With only games against mediocre Arkansas and Vandy teams standing in their way, it looks like Carolina is in good shape to get to the Tennessee game undefeated in conference. The contest will likely decide the regular-season SEC title.
