Name: Kyle Markway
Position: Tight End
Height/Weight: 6'4, 240 pounds
Hometown: Saint Louis, MO
Rating: 247Sports: Three Star Rivals: Three Star ESPN: Three Star
A rare prospect from Missouri, Markway is the first of two tight end prospects in the 2015 class. He selected the Gamecocks over offers from the Iowa Hawkeyes, Illinois Fighting Illini and the Cincinnati Bearcats among others. His primary recruiter is listed Spurrier JR, and Joe Robinson is listed as the secondary recruiter.
Strengths:
Markway is a very well rounded tight end. he displays a great amount of pass catching ability, and does posses above average speed for the position. He also is able throw out blocks to help in both the passing game and the running game. He also possesses the needed size for a combo tight end like Markway. When catching the ball, he is able to leverage his strength to run through tacklers and is almost impossible to bring down on the first hit. He also displays a decent ability to run routes, and is often able to get separation from the defender. Not only can he playoffense, but if the coaches need him to, he will be able to move to defensive end and act as a serviceable prospect at that position as well.
Weaknesses:
To be honest, I can't really find any real weakness with Markway. The biggest thing for him will be trying to learn the offensive plays and blocking schemes.
Overall:
Since Jerrell Adams is now the only tight end on the team to receive reps, Markway does have the potential to come in and make a impact. if he can learn the offense this fall, then there is no reason to expect that he doesn't see the field.
