South Carolina vs. Wofford Preview

It would be fun for the Gamecocks to avoid another midweek loss

TheBigSpur

The Gamecocks had yet another disappointing weekend, dropping a home series to Auburn to fall to 27-21 (10-14). It's hard to feel like any one game is very important considering what a disaster this season is, but if the Gamecocks want to finish with a winning record they need to beat the Terriers tonight and USC Upstate next week. The last time South Carolina finished a season with a losing record was 1996 and that's the only year since 1973 that the Gamecocks have had less than 30 wins in a season.

The Gamecocks are 74-25-1 against the Terriers overall and have won eight of the last ten games. Wofford last beat the Gamecocks in Columbia in 2012.

Wofford is 33-16 (11-7) and is coming into today's game fresh off of a 17-9 whipping of Clemson on Tuesday night. After starting their season with seven straight wins the Terriers cooled down a little with a loss in their first matchup with Clemson, but have continued to play well this season and have only lost one weekend series.

South Carolina Wofford
Batting Average .250 .299

Slugging % .362 .440

The Gamecocks have not announced a starting pitcher yet.

The Terriers will send sophomore RHP Jordan Accetta to the mound. His ERA is 7.18 and he has 17 strikeouts and 13 walks this season.
