Spurrier updates QB battle, injury situation, and the defense has some new starters

Brock Stadnik's career is likely over, Steve talks QB's, and Isaiah Johnson and Jordan Diggs are now the starters at safety

Injury Update:

It looks like Brock Stadnik will not play football again, as he had to take a medical hardship. Brock came into Carolina as a 4 star OT recruit with fairly high expectations. We wish Brock the best in whatever his future endeavors may be.

Pharoh is still out with that sprained hand. The word is if we played tomorrow he would start, and they are just keeping him out of practice for precautionary reasons. The good news is Skai Moore, TJ Gurley, and Dante Sawyer are back at practice and healthy.

QB Battle:

You've been #Cloningered

While Spurrier said Connor Mitch has had a couple of good days at practice, he also refrained from saying there is any separation yet. I'd be really surprised if we don't see Connor start to get more reps with the 1st team after the scrimmage on Saturday. Hopefully, as the supposed front-runner for the QB1 job, he will start to separate himself from the pack sooner rather than later.

Defensive Update:

Well that didn't take long. It looks like Isaiah Johnson is already having an impact on the defense. It also looks like Jordan Diggs will be moving to safety full time and is working alongside Johnson on the 1st defense. Diggs, who came in as a 4 star safety recruit, has apparently slimmed down a bit after spending the last couple of years at linebacker/SPUR.

Deke Adams said Marquavius Lewis has been impressive despite the obvious pressure.

Post-practice interview with the HBC. He talks about Mitch, Stadnik and more.

The Gamecocks are back at it at 8:30 Wednesday morning. The practice is closed to the public :(
