When I get upset that 11 years into the Spurrier era we're basically irrelevant - which comes only a year removed from the program-best 33-6 run from 2011 to 2013 - at least I can take solace in the certainty that we will beat UK? Right? Right? Oh, wait. No, we can't count the 'Cats as a "W" anymore. If we even think it, they will beat us on Saturday.

Hey Gamecocks. Remember me?

ESPN SEC Blog: SEC Week 1 Power Rankings. Tweltfh is absolutely shameful.  Can you really quibble with it, though?

Get the Picture: Heck, it's a bad week when I have to look for the Senator to show us a little respect in a power poll; good news - he thinks we're the # 2 team in the East.  Bad news - we're worse than the whole SEC West.  And UGA. But that went without sayin' of course.

CBS Sports: AP Poll has record 10 SEC teams in Top 25, including all of SEC West. We're not one of them; we didn't even receive a single vote in the AP. Regardless of what happens during the season (whether we shine and break into the poll or whether we flatline again), to be this irrelevant at this point of the year eleven seasons into the HBCs reign is absolutely reprehensible. If we lollygag around with UK, or lose, we shouldn't expect to crack the poll this season.

Southern Pigskin: The coaches gave us a little more love with 22 points.

Gamecock Central: Tuesday Practice Quick Hitters posted by Wes Mitchell.

Garnet & Cocky: Jamari Smith is "The Drifter". How about "High Gains Drifter?"

Gene Sapakoff: Gamecocks get a lift from Carson daily. Good to know I am not the worst punner in the Palmetto State.

WKVT: Stoops on the field, Spurrier on the links - rubber match comes Saturday. I'm already sick of hearing about this golf game. Either flatten the 'Cats or shut-up. Nothing else matters.

Saturday Down South: South Carolina’s Mitch will have to play better against Kentucky. I'm not happy with where the program is now, but certainly it's way too early to make judgments about Connor Mitch.  Connor Shaw's (v ECU), Stephen Garcia's (v LSU) and Phil Petty's (v Clem) first starts weren't much to write home about, either, and each of those guys went on to win us some ballgames. Let's be patient with Connor Mitch.

Post & Courier: On the Beat: Lorenzo Nunez still in the mix to play for Gamecocks. Hey - competition is good for every player at every position.

Spurs and Feathers: Isaiah Johnson relishes first experience in a South Carolina uniform.

The Daily Gamecock: Practice Update: Moore recognized as depth chart changes, Waldrop out for year, new defensive starters. What do you think of Lammons in place of Elder, and Stallworth in place of Sawyer?

The Rubber Chickens: TRC Unleashed Episode 79 – We’re 1-0 and Nothing Else Matters.  I'm going to go out on a limb here and say 2-0 matters more now.  Heh.

The Big Spur: If you can deal with Corey Miller and J.C. Shurbutt, then this video is for you - Chalk Talk: Looking back, ahead on the Gamecocks. J.C. was right to bust on a called reverse to Carlton Heard - though Heard earned his stripes for throwing the block that sprang Shon.

Gamecock Cereal: Rixon Lane and Chis Clark do the Sandstorm Podcast: Is USC Recruiting at a High Enough Level? Probably not.  Ask me again come February and I will give you a more definitive answer.

SportstalkSC: Speaking of recruiting, Korn and K-Mac update USC's status with OL Pete Leota of Asheville and OL John Simpson of Ft. Dorchester. Plus an interview with Gamecock legend Sterling Sharpe.

Gamecock Fanatics: A time for revenge? Last year’s loss to Kentucky hard to forget by Featheredcock.

John Clay: The 'Cats viewpoint - South Carolina hasn’t forgotten last year’s UK loss. I'm glad our boys remember. Now what do the Cocks plan to do about it?

KentuckySportsRadio: An interesting look at how the Wildcats see their schedule - Kentucky’s Schedule Isn’t Looking Any Easier.  Guess who they see as their must-win?  If we don't treat this next game with the same intensity as Stoopsie & Co., then we will be lucky to go back to Charlotte for a bowl game (assuming we make the postseason at all).  Also UK vs. USC: Position Matchups and Numbers. They think they're pretty even with us.  Are they right?

Fox Sports: Why SEC haters could be in for a long, miserable season. Well, that's cold comfort.
