The South Carolina Gamecocks Men's and Women's basketball teams remain undefeated after the first weekend of the new year. After a hard-hitting victory for the men against Memphis yesterday, the South Carolina women came out and took care of business in their SEC opener Sunday afternoon with a 85-32 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Senior guard Tina Roy led the Gamecocks with 21 points off seven three pointers as the women blew past Arkansas in the second and third quarters. After getting off to a slow start and tied at 9 after one, Dawn Staley's squad exploded offensively to outscore Arkansas 64-16 in the second and third.

Once again, the Gamecocks balance and depth were able to overpower an outmatched opponent. Four out of the five Gamecocks starters finished with 10+ points and yet again A'ja Wilson and Alaina Coates recorded double-doubles to dominate down low.

The Gamecocks men and women are now a combined 26-0 - a new SEC record. After a disappointing football season that has seen the rival Clemson Tigers make it into the national championship game, the next sport up for Gamecocks athletics couldn't be off to a better start.
