Any chance this is a close game? You bet.
Would it be a surprise if we scored more than 21 points? Yes.
Shocker if Georgia Bulldogs racks up 400 rushing yards on the Gamecocks? Yes, no and maybe.
Surprised if we win? No, it would not. The Gamecocks can win this home game. So without further ado, here are the three keys for a Gamecock victory and a prediction.
PERRY ORTH
Perry Orth is better than Brandon McIlwain. There I said it. The difference between Orth and McIlwain is experience, decision making, and um…passing. We need a balanced attack that can keep Jacob Eason and Nick Chubb off the field while chewing up game time. Perry Orth is our guy. Yes. He is the better passer and that is why he’s the one of the keys for a W.
BLOCKING
Blocking is not a tap on the shoulder as they run by. The offensive line, the receivers and running backs need to block better. A lot better. Square up, and put a hit on a defender. No mistakes. No holding. No shoving from behind. In this video, you will see what I’m talking about. It’s like a domino effect. It’s starts with the O-line and then others miss their mark. This can be fixed. It starts with coaching. And, it needs to be fixed. Now!
STOP NICK CHUBB
Here is the deal. Nick Chubb is going to the NFL. He is a top draft pick. He will make millions. Then he will buy a nice car, then a mansion, some more expensive cars, and finally retire comfortably. But all those dreams are vapor if he gets another blown-out knee. The Scouts are watching. He must impress them. But he has to be careful too. And, South Carolina Gamecocks is that opportunity to shine. We have history of giving up gaudy numbers to opposing teams. We can’t allow Chubb to hit pay dirt running all over us. He needs to be stopped, stuffed, smacked, and slapped silly.
PREDICTION
I predict Jacob Eason chucks a couple deep balls for touchdowns. Nick Chubb has a couple of scores. The Gamecocks get going with Rico Dowdle and AJ Turner, and each has a TD. Hayden Hurst gets a touchdown. Deebo Samuel, Bryan Edwards or Terry Googer might nab one. But... it’s not enough.
The UGA Bulldogs come to Willy-B and leave victorious - UGA 28 and USC 21.
I could be wrong. I could be right.
