Gator’ed

NCAA Football: South Carolina at Florida Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Gamecocksonline: Men's Hoops Set To Host Holy Cross tonight (Sunday) at 7:00 p.m. at the CLA. This is the 2nd of three games in five days to kick off the roundball season. If you’re in town, go on down and cheer ‘em on. Plus - on the pitch, the USC women (19-1-1) are Set To Face Colorado In Second Round Of NCAA Tournament at Stone Stadium on Thursday (time TBD).

SEC Country: Jake Bentley, young South Carolina offense takes lumps in tough road experience at Florida. This wasn’t fun, but we’ve suffered much worse at The Swamp. Plus - Steve Spurrier talks about the experience of South Carolina-Florida on Saturday. Just like when you were at USC coach, except with recruiting. And - Pretty classy all around.

Josh Kendall: Punt. Punt. Punt. Punt. Fumble. Punt. Halftime. And so forth.

Gamecock Central: Missed chances doom Gamecocks in first road game in six weeks.

SportstalkSC: Sports talk at the Stadium. Positive signs, if you look for them.

Spurs & Feathers: Very true - Despite poor start, Gamecocks fight through until end against Florida. Not giving up when you get down is half the battle.

ESPN SEC Blog: Florida tops South Carolina 20-7 in Muschamp's return.

Alligator Army: Gators finish home slate with another swamping.

Team Speed Kills: Gamecocks late comeback falls short; Gators a win away from ATL.The loss will be a set back for Muschamp’s program today, but the future is still bright.

Saturday Down South: After all that bad football, atrocious SEC East down to Florida, Tennessee.

The Big Spur: John Del Bianco thinks Lack of special teams speed haunts Gamecocks. I’m not too worried going forward. Strong special teams are built on strong recruiting; it’s where your fast, young guns (safeties, corners, WRs, RBs) get to contribute early. Since Boom is forced to play so many youngsters on both the offensive and defensive platoons, we should be fine after another season or so of solid recruiting; its not like the coverage teams were great under Spurrier and Joe-Rob.

CBS Sports: John Whittle writes Gamecocks fail to 'handle the moment,' fall to Florida. D played well enough to win, with three takeaways and killed two UF drives after turnovers; special teams were uneven. This loss is really on the “O” anyway you slice it. The Gators were camped out in our backfield and they weren’t doing anything special except beating the guy in front of them. See Exhibit “A” - Bad numbers get worse for USC's offensive line. When you get beat up front, you tip your cap to the other team; and then you decide whether your O Line position coach is one you want to keep. I’ve already made up my mind.

OK - that’s enough for today. Go Cocks. Beat WCU.
