The Gamecocks kept their winning ways going with a big win over the Razorbacks on Friday night.
They jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. With the bases loaded, Alex Destino singled to make it 2-0. After Dom Thompson-Williams was plunked to load the bases again, Chris Cullen made it 3-0 with a sac fly. DC Arendas followed with a double to bring in two more runs.
In the next inning, DTW tripled to make it 7-0, then Cullen doubled to bring another run home.
Arkansas got on the board and ended the shutout with a home run in the third inning. The scoring slowed through the middle innings, until the Razorbacks made it 8-2 in the sixth.
The Gamecocks tacked on another run in the seventh, when Arendas went yard to make it 9-2.
Arkansas narrowed the gap in the eighth inning, scoring four runs on two pitches to make it 9-6 in the eighth, but South Carolina hit double digits in the bottom of the inning when Jones made it 10-6.
Starter Clarke Schmidt had another strong outing, working into the seventh inning. He allowed just two hits, two runs, walked one batter, and struck out 11. Brandon Murray also pitched for South Carolina tonight. Schmidt earned the win and is now 5-0.
With the win, the Gamecocks improve to 18-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play. They'll take the field against the Razorbacks again tomorrow, with first pitch set for 4 p.m.
