2016 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament, Day 1 Scores and Recap: Tennessee too much for Auburn

The Vols dominated the Tigers in every form and fashion on Wednesday evening.

Day one of the SEC Tournament is in the books, and it was an ugly night for the Auburn Tigers. Bruce Pearl's squad failed to show up against his former team as they found themselves on the wrong end of an embarrassing 97-59 decision against Tennessee in Nashville.

Day One Finals

(12) Tennessee Volunteers 97, (13) Auburn Tigers 59

The Tigers were completely outclassed as they managed to make just 17 field goals all game, equating to a 29.8% performance from the floor and 4-24 shooting from three. T.J. Dunans (17) and Tyler Harris (14) were Auburn's top scorers; no other Tiger scored more than five points. Meanwhile, the Vols shot a scintillating 58.6% from the field - 64% in the second half - as they took a 44-25 lead at the break before opening up as much as a 41-point advantage toward the end of the game. Armani Moore led the way with 22 and was one of four Vols to hit double figures. All but one of the 11 Tennessee players that saw the court in this one scored a point.

Next up: The Vols grapple for a spot in the quarterfinals as they tangle with in-state foe Vanderbilt in what should amount to a virtual home game for the fifth-seeded Commodores. Tip off for that one is set for approximately 3pm ET.
