The Final Cockdown: #61 Javion Duncan

It’s ok if you’ve never heard of him. GABA has some insight on the newly acquired walk-on from Simpsonville, SC.

NCAA Football: Texas A&M at South Carolina Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports

Javion Duncan

RS Sophomore
Defensive End
6”0’ / 255 lbs.
Simpsonville, SC

Recruitment

A dual-sport athlete, who excelled in track and field as well as football at Woodmont HS in Simpsonville, Duncan wasn’t heavily recruited by any major college programs.

College Career

The up-state native spent his freshman (or rather knob) year enrolled at The Citadel where he was utilized along the the offensive line. He did not see any playing time during the 2014 season for the Bulldogs.

He enrolled at Carolina in the fall of 2015, but did not participate with the football team.

2016 Outlook

While he’s listed as a defensive end, Duncan is one of the newer members on the Gamecock football team, enlisting just before the start of spring practice. As of now, we aren’t really sure what kind of role he’ll have under Travaris Robinson’s first defense in Columbia. In all likelihood, the walk-on will spend most of time on the practice squad.

Nonetheless, we’re all happy he’s with us.
