Recruitment

Coming out of the talent heavy Atlanta area, the Woodward Academy alumnus wasn’t heavily recruited by any FBS programs. He turned down an a scholarship offer to Dartmouth, probably because it’s too cold in New Hampshire.

College Career

Russell enrolled at South Carolina in the fall of 2013 and walked-on to the Gamecocks just before spring practice in January of 2014. He spent all of 2015 working out with the scout team defense.

2016 Outlook

Still a member of the team as a walk-on, it looks like Russell’s time in 2016 will be spent in the same place it was as a year ago - the scout team. He does add depth to a secondary that was exploited much of last season, so there’s always the chance he works his way up the depth chart.
