Last year, toward the end of April, we learned that then-South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier was in the process of writing an autobiography with collaborator Buddy Martin. Today, we learned of the book’s release date - and its fairly appropriate title, as well.

The book is expected to dive into Spurrier’s nearly 40-year coaching career, which, of course, includes the 10+ years that he spent at the helm of the Gamecocks program before resigning in the middle of the 2015 season. It will give us a chance to hear about his highs (the national championship he won at Florida) and lows (his failed NFL stint in Washington) at his various stops, and maybe provide a little more insight as to why he stepped down from his post in Columbia in October. It’s also sure to include Spurrier’s signature wit that he displayed at his various stops during his life as a head coach.

Many Gamecocks (and college football) fans will be ready to purchase the book long before the August 30 release (the pre-order link is in the tweet we embedded above), so you’ll want to buy yours soon and make sure you have your hands on one when it comes out. It should be quite the read as we’ll get a good, strong dose of probably one of the most interesting head coaches in college football history, if not one of the more successful.
