South Carolina’s Mason Zandi, Elliott Fry named to coaches’ All SEC team

Well, at least it’s something.

While the media made their All-SEC picks back in July (with the Gamecocks only landing just one player on the list - Elliott Fry), we had yet to hear who the coaches’ selections were. We now know as their picks for the best players in the conference were revealed by the league this morning.

Unsurprisingly, not a lot of Gamecocks landed on the list as only Fry (second team) and offensive lineman Mason Zandi were represented. That’s not surprising given Carolina’s poor performance last year. Then again, we’ll see if the players use it as a nice motivational tactic moving forward.

Other names on the list weren’t a shock: Chad Kelly, Nick Chubb, Leonard Fournette, Myles Garrett and Jalen Teez Tabor were among the first-team picks. With predictions out of the way for now, we can focus on what’s really important: football, which starts for the Gamecocks a week from today in Nashville against Vandy.
