We are almost there, y’all!
It’s the final week in which the Gamecocks will practice on a Saturday and not be playing real, actual college football...well, they’ll probably practice next Saturday too since we open the season on a Thursday, but, WHATEVER THAT LINE SOUNDED BETTER IN MY HEAD.
As talkin’ season draws to a close, you can imagine that each practice session is increasingly crucial to the team’s success once everything kicks off in Nashville. So, your friends at GABA are here to bring you the INSIDE scoop from the week that was on the practice fields relatively close to Williams-Brice Stadium.
We have plenty of quarterbacks, but none of them are starting:
The philosopher, Stewart Griffin, once said, “it’s good to have land,” and the same can be said for quarterbacks. We’ve definitely got a lot of them, and some of them are pretty good, too. However, it’s a pretty unusual thing to not have, like, one quarterback that knows that they’re the one that goes out there and does stuff when Carolina’s playing offense. Will Muschamp apparently wants two. Personally, I want to think that they’re just going to snap the ball to an empty backfield and whoever picks it up is the quarterback. It’s a bold strategy, but, you tell me what defense will be prepared for that kinda crazy.
Sean Kelly is basically Michael Phelps:
Y’all already know that the decorated punter got into a bit of a scrape a couple weeks ago while leaving Saloon. You know who else ran into a bit of trouble in Five Points? Yeah. This guy. Also, this guy. Also, this guy. Also, this guy (okay forget that one...). Basically, Sean Kelly is Michael Phelps...he’s also all of us that did stupid crap in college. Also, the fact that the best they could do in describing one of the charges was ‘malicious injury to a tree’ and not something more like this is a crime in, and of, itself.
The Gameday Warrior is still the biggest, craziest, Gamecock fan on earth:
I mean, seriously, despite the fact that it makes absolutely no sense that someone is this invested in the South Carolina Gamecocks (face-paint ain’t cheap, y’all), you have got to admire someone that doesn’t hide their fan love. Video HERE.

David Williams got a makeover:
Despite a rocky 2015, he was still the presumptive favorite to be named the starting running back, but David Williams fell to the bottom of the depth chart pretty quickly. Now, he’s moved all the way back up to the RB2 position behind A.J. Turner. Bobby Bentley shared some insight into how David’s resurgence is the result of ‘a makeover’. Now, while we cannot confirm nor deny what type of makeover we’re talking about, but it was certainly the topic of discussion at the new practice fields this week.
wait...
WE HAVE NEW PRACTICE FIELDS!?
THIS WHOLE TIME I’VE BEEN GOING TO THE WRONG PLACE WHAT IS REAL ANYMORE HAS EVERYTHING BEEN A LIE HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO M- okay, this was a horrible bit. I just want football to get here...
