The Gamecocks were able to pull out a 13-10 win over Vanderbilt last week in Nashville behind a 55-yard field goal by Elliott Fry. Now, with the scene shifted to Starkville, they hope that the offense can come out of the gate firing as they pay a visit to the Bulldogs of Mississippi State. MSU, ironically, saw their game come down to a field goal, but it was a last-second miss by Westin Graves that would give South Alabama its program’s biggest-ever victory.
Will Muschamp promised that the Gamecocks would come out “angry” and “desperate” tonight, especially with a lackluster offensive effort in the first half last Thursday and with Mississippi State out to erase last week’s events. How that will look, and whether they respond, remains to be seen.
