Remember that early December loss in Durham, N.C. to the Blue Devils? Neither do Dawn Staley and her Gamecocks Women’s basketball team. Since that 11-point upset at the hands of Duke, South Carolina has rattled off six straight victories, with its only real scare coming against a top-ten UCLA team in a nine point win.

The Gamecocks take the road to Gainesville Sunday, looking to begin their SEC schedule 3-0 and aiming to keep the Gators searching for their first conference win. Speaking of streaking, after losing her first four games to the Gators as South Carolina’s head coach, Dawn Staley has found a recipe for success against Florida, guiding her squad to seven straight wins over the Gators. South Carolina will look to emulate the dominance they put on Florida in their last trip to Gainesville - a lopsided 77-42 victory over the Gators back in January of 2015.

The Gamecocks bring with them some familiar faces present during that blowout, namely A’ja Wilson and Alaina Coates, but a different point guard will be leading the team at the start. Dawn Staley made a switch at the point guard position as the Gamecocks began conference play, putting freshman Tyasha Harris in from the get-go to let Bianca Cuevas-Moore come in off the bench. The move has worked for Staley thus far. Harris has come off highly effective in the opening minutes of the game upping her averages to 4.7 assists and 7.0 points per game from 1.8 assists and 4.2 points. Staley hopes she can sustain the success on the road today, in what can be a tough home environment for the Gators.

A win today, and the Gamecocks will improve to 3-0 in the SEC heading into a short break before hosting Georgia on the 12th.
