Bruce Ellington finds pay dirt to lead Gamecocks in the NFL

A look at how former South Carolina players fared in the NFL last week.

WR Bruce Ellington, Texans: Ellington caught four passes for 41 yards and Houston’s lone touchdown as the Texans got handled by the Rams.

DE Jadeveon Clowney, Texans: Clowney had three tackles, all for loss, a sack, and a quarterback hit. Despite the Texans’ blowout loss, the Rams coach had a lot of good things to say about JD:

S D.J. Swearinger, Redskins: Swearinger tallied five tackles, including one for loss, and had two passes defensed in Washington’s loss to Minnesota.

S Darian Stewart, Broncos: Stewart was the second-leading tackler for Denver with six stops against New England.

CB Stephon Gilmore, Patriots: Gilmore notched three tackles and a pass defensed for the Patriots as they rolled over Denver.

WR/PR Pharoh Cooper, Rams: Cooper had two catches for 12 yards. He also returned two kickoffs for 49 yards (long of 27) and three punts for 32 yards (long of 27).

K Ryan Succop, Titans: Succop was a perfect 3-for-3 on extra points and drilled a 44-yard field goal, but missed another attempt.

DB Captain Munnerlyn, Panthers: Munnerlyn tallied three tackles and a pass defensed in Carolina’s big win over Miami.

DE Melvin Ingram, Chargers: Ingram notched two tackles with a quarterback hit for Los Angeles in its overtime loss to Jacksonville.

FB Patrick DiMarco, Bills: DiMarco had three receptions for 21 yards and added a carry for no gain as New Orleans blew out Buffalo.
