The Gamecocks went up to the Big Apple for the Under Armour Reunion event and got trounced by Temple, 76-60. Freshman guard David Beatty was the standout, scoring 13 points off the bench, and was joined in double figures by Maik Kotsar (12) and Justin Minaya (11).
What to watch for
Having played six of their seven games on the road, the Gamecocks are now starting a three-game homestand. Luwane Pipkins (17.3 points per game) and Rashaan Holloway (10.7 ppg) lead the way for the Minutemen, who have lost three straight. UMass was picked to finish 12th (out of 14) in the Atlantic 10, and did not place any players on the preseason all-conference teams. This should be a good opportunity for South Carolina to get back in the win column.
