The 68 teams headed to the NCAA Tournament have been announced. Villanova, the defending national champion, is the #1 overall seed, followed by Gonzaga, North Carolina and Kansas. The tournament begins with the First Four on Tuesday and Wednesday and will feature Providence/USC, Kansas State/Wake Forest, NC Central/UC Davis, and Mount St. Mary’s/New Orleans. Those winners will move into the main bracket, with play beginning Thursday.
South Carolina is a seven seed in the East region. The committee gave them a favorable location as they will open against 10th-seeded Marquette on Friday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville. The first-round contest will be a virtual home game for the Gamecocks as they will be playing approximately 90 minutes from Columbia; if they win, they will take on the winner of the Duke/Troy first round 2/15 matchup. Our coverage of before and after the game will be right here on Garnet and Black Attack throughout the week.
