Against all odds, South Carolina won the first game of the series against LSU.

The Gamecocks got on the board first, taking scoring all three of their runs in the second inning. The first run came when Alex Destino brought Jonah Bride in. The call wasn’t without drama though, as Bride was initially called out but the call was overturned. The other two runs in the inning came courtesy of a Madison Stokes single.

The Tigers scored their only two runs of the game in the fourth inning. The first came on a solo homer, and the second came on a wild pitch.

Starter Wil Crowe did a good job, pitching into the fifth inning. He was replaced by Josh Reagan,0 who pitched until Tyler Johnson took over in the eighth.

With the win, South Carolina improves to 27-17 overall and 11-11 in the SEC, while LSU is now 30-16 overwll and 13-9 in conference play. They’ll meet again on Saturday at 8 p.m.
