Welcome to The Final Cockdown’s Tight Ends week! We go down the depth chart and take a look at a particularly deep position group for SC this season. Here’s a list of who you can expect to read about in the coming days:
Hayden Hurst | KC Crosby | Keil Pollard | Jacob August | Evan Hinson | Kyle Markaway | Will Register
#82 Evan Hinson
RS Freshman / 6’4’’ / 225 / Deltona, Fla. / Deltona
Many fans of South Carolina athletics are reading this and thinking to themselves, “Evan Hinson... where do I know that name from?” Allow us to refresh your memory:
By the way, Evan Hinson leads South Carolina in scoring with 4 points in a 14-13 game.

Evan. Hinson.
That was during the SEC Tournament quarterfinal against Alabama. Hinson came off the bench to try and spark some offense in what would be an anemic performance by the Gamecocks. Since Hinson redshirted his freshman year on the football field, that game against the Crimson Tide was really the first time South Carolina fans got to know him.
He’s got a mountainous task ahead of him trying to find a way to squeeze into the depth chart this year with Hayden Hurst, Keil Pollard, Jacob August and KC Crosby essentially locking up the four deep. If that in fact is the case, the basketball team could always use help in the back court.
2016 stats: None, redshirted. 1.1 ppg, 0.6 rpg in eight basketball games.
Recruitment: Three star recruit; Southern Cal, Miami, Florida, Louisville, North Carolina, Michigan, West Virginia and South Carolina. Committed to SC on Jan. 31, 2016.
Selected highlight: It’s not the greatest video, but this catch is pretty sweet from Hinson’s high school days in Florida.

Up next: Kyle Markway, who after sitting in 2016 due to injury gets back into the mix at tight end.
