Welcome to Linebacker week! The Final Cockdown is going take this week to appreciate to breakdown a position of great importance to the Gamecock defense. Here’s a list of who we’ll go through:
Bryson Allen-Williams | Skai Moore | T.J. Brunson | Davonne Bowen | Sherrod Greene | Eldridge Thompson | Damani Staley
#4 Bryson Allen Williams
Senior / 6’0” / 230 / Ellenwood, Ga. / Ceder Grove
Bryson Allen Williams, or BAW for short, has always been a bit of a frustration for Gamecock fans. He was one of the darlings in the 2014 class, as a matter of fact according to 247 sports he was the best highest-rated recruit in the entire group.
Alongside the now dismissed Al Harris Jr., he became only the third true freshman to start on defense in an opening game since Jadeveon Clowney. But BAW’s play wavered in consistency and was eventually bumped to defensive end in the latter parts of the season. His sophomore year saw more of the same, but his fortunes changed once Will Muschamp took the helm.
BAW came on with seven starts last season and really picked up his play at the end of the year against Clemson and USF. Now in his final season, he and Skai Moore will look to lead a defensive resurgence as the senior interior linebackers.
Select Highlight: In what might be the best play SC had in the Birmingham Bowl, check out BAW bringing down this nice tip-drill interception.
