Greene is one of the more intriguing newcomers for the Gamecocks and joins a position group in need of depth behind stalwarts Skai Moore and Bryson Allen-Williams. His high school coach described him as a "freakish athlete" who could help South Carolina at multiple positions. Head coach Will Muschamp has noticed, as he's singled Greene out as an emerging player during the team's fall camp.

As a high school senior, Greene racked up 96 tackles and a pair of interceptions en route to the Gryphons' N.C. Class 3A state title game appearance and also participated in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas. As a junior, he amassed 154 tackles as Rocky Mount captured the state championship.

ESPN rated him the 23rd-best player in North Carolina and the 24th-best inside linebacker nationally. Notably, Alabama offered him late in the process, but Greene chose to commit to the Gamecocks.
