#15 Aaron Sterling

Freshman / 6’1” / 240 / Atlanta, Ga. / Tucker

A year ago Aaron Sterling was signed to play his college football at Alabama. The six-foot-one, 240 pound edge rusher was probably destined to play outside linebacker in Nick Saban’s 3-4 defense — possibly never seeing the field as a three-star prospect.

However on Sept. 18, 2016 Sterling decommitted from Alabama and opened his recruitment back up. Among the schools coming after him were Georgia, Tennessee and LSU — but come signing day it was South Carolina where Sterling decided he would continue his football career.

Sterling helped Tucker go all the way to the Georgia 6A state final before they fell to national power Valdosta and looks to help the South Carolina pass rush this season too.

Select highlight: If you can ignore the babbling in the background, Sterling makes some impressive plays at the famed Corky Kell Classic in the Georgia Dome.

2016 stats: N/A

Recruitment: Three star; Offers from Georgia, Tennessee, NC State, Alabama, Cal, LSU, North Carolina and South Carolina. Committed to SC on Feb. 1, 2017.

Up next: Brad Johnson, a four-star edge rusher who could make an early impact on the defensive line’s depth.
