Last game
The Gamecocks dropped their SEC opener, falling 74-69 at Ole Miss after they couldn’t turn back a late Rebels run. Frank Booker stood out for South Carolina, scoring 21 points and making six 3-pointers, and Chris Silva notched a double-double with 21 points of his own and 13 rebounds. The Gamecocks put on another poor shooting performance (38% from the floor) and turned it over 14 times.
What to watch for
The shine came off of Missouri’s season a bit when vaunted recruit, co-SEC preseason player of the year, and projected one-and-done Michael Porter Jr. went down with a back injury in November. Nonetheless, the Tigers feature three players averaging double figures: Kassius Robertson (15.1 points per game), Jordan Barnett (14.8) and Kevin Puryear (10.2). Missouri ranks second in the SEC in rebound margin (+9.4) and is third in field goal percentage defense (39.4%). The Tigers are coming off a tough 70-64 loss to Illinois (coached by former Gamecock assistant Brad Underwood) and haven’t played since Dec. 23.
