Odds: South Carolina opens as underdog to Florida

Vegas is going with the home team here.

Matt Bush-USA TODAY Sports

Fresh off a thrilling shootout victory on the road against Ole Miss, the South Carolina Gamecocks have been installed as 7-point underdogs to the host Florida Gators this Saturday.

No. 19 Florida is coming off an unexpected 38-17 trouncing at the hands of Missouri for the Gators’ homecoming last week. Previously, Florida was routed 36-17 by rival Georgia and eased past Vanderbilt, 37-27, after springing a big upset of LSU — which is the highlight of their season thus far. To say this team is a bit of an enigma under first-year head coach Dan Mullen is an understatement.

Florida is 6-3 against the spread this season, while South Carolina is 4-4.

What do you guys think about this line? It seems a little high to me, given the Gators’ recent struggles and two-game losing streak, but historically the Gamecocks haven’t played well at all in the Swamp. Florida has the look and feel of a team that’s been overrated all season long, but South Carolina will be in for a test regardless.
