Last game
South Carolina lost its fifth straight, dropping an ugly 65-41 result to Florida in Columbia on Saturday. The Gators crushed the Gamecocks defensively, outrebounding them 46-24 and holding them to 27.8% shooting from the field, and added 10 blocks just for good measure. Frank Booker led South Carolina with 17 points, while Chris Silva added 10. On a tough offensive night for the Gamecocks, the other four starters combined for just nine points.
What to watch for
Tennessee previously beat South Carolina in Columbia, taking a tough 70-63 win that felt like a missed opportunity. Unfortunately, the Gamecocks are a different team now than they were on Jan. 20: South Carolina is slumping hard, while the Volunteers are continuing to pad an impressive NCAA Tournament resume and could theoretically even capture a No. 1 seed. Tennessee is 10-2 in home games this season, and ranks second in the SEC in scoring defense (67.2 points per game) and third in 3-point percentage (38.6%). Lamonte Turner, one of three Volunteers who averages double figures (10.7), burned the Gamecocks last time out with 25 points.
