Defensive back transfer Jamel Cook joins Gamecocks

Coach Will Muschamp and the South Carolina Gamecocks got some good news Monday morning with the announcement of defensive back Jamel Cook’s transfer.

Cook comes to Columbia from the other USC, where he redshirted in 2016 due to injury and didn’t see much action last season. Hailing from Florida, Cook was a four-star prospect out of high school and ranked the 99th-best player in his class by 247Sports.

Per NCAA transfer rules, Cook will sit out 2018, but will be a welcome addition in 2019 with the Gamecocks’ general lack of depth in the secondary.
