After Hurricane Florence forced the South Carolina Gamecocks into an unplanned bye week, USC will hit the road to Nashville as narrow 2.5-point favorites over the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The line, which opened with the Gamecocks as 3.5-point favorites, was quickly bet down in favor of the hometown team.
The Commodores (2-1) are fresh off a gritty performance in South Bend, where they took on eighth-ranked Notre Dame and hung around far longer than the Irish would have preferred, eventually leaving with a 22-17 loss. Prior to that defeat, Vandy posted big wins against Middle Tennessee (35-7) and Nevada (41-10). If you’re expecting this game to be a painful three hours like it usually is, well, Vegas happens to agree.
The over/under is set at roughly 51, with a projected score of 29-22 in favor of the Gamecocks. Vanderbilt is 3-0 against the spread this season, while South Carolina is 1-1.
