Ahead of the big Georgia game on Saturday, the South Carolina Gamecocks are back in the national polls, sitting at No. 24 in both the Coaches Poll and the Associated Press poll.
In Week 1, South Carolina topped the AP’s list of teams also receiving votes with 96. Given some movement among the bottom of the ranks (thanks, Texas!), it’s not too surprising the Gamecocks sneaked in. Now, this upcoming SEC East showdown against the No. 3 Bulldogs will be one against two ranked teams.
The Gamecocks were most recently ranked in the College Football Playoff poll in the final week of the 2017 regular season, when they were also slotted at 24th ahead of their rivalry game against Clemson.
